Regular maintenance of the engines fuel injection equipment is essential for the overall engine performance, economy and the compliance with the emission regulations IMO and MARPOL Annex VI. With the introduction of increasingly more stringent regulations and the regional requirements for fuel switching to lower sulphur fuels this will increase the likelihood of seizures and increased component wear due to the reduced lubricity of lower sulphur fuels.
A cost effective way of keeping the fuel injection equipment in good condition and optimum engine performance is reconditioning. in most cases, reconditioning of the equipment is a viable and cost effective way of rendering it fit for further use. Barrel and plungers along with fuel valves and nozzles can be serviced and repaired at a fraction of the cost of replacement items.
